JETSAM

For this series I chose to photograph what I perceive to be idiosyncrasies of living in the country along with adhering to an idea of one cohesive color palette. The color palette has to do with my interest in grapheme synesthesia, much like my Flotsam series. I have been using this idea to see how the content of my work would be affected by having this neurological disorder. The work is not intended to follow any sort of story. The items photographed to me reflect the ambivalence of some households in the country when curb appeal is concerned. It is not to say you wouldn’t find these items in the city, as I believe you could as well, but in the country it seems to be more prevalent and does not discriminate between the wealthy and the poor. For someone who grew up only in the city, this lack of discrimination is communally unifying, even though they do not view it that way.
